What to look for before you buy.
The first thing people need to ask themselves about a medical marijuana dispensary is whether it makes you feel like you just entered a shady place where you want to hide your face? If it feels that way, there is probably a reason for it. Dispensaries are the new pharmacies, and should be just as professional, clean, and inviting (if not more so) than any pharmacy you have ever seen. That is just the first step. The visual assessment. But there are so many other factors you need to consider when choosing a dispensary and making sure it is as professional and safe as possible and can meet your very specific set of needs. Most importantly, in order to be legit, it must be in a state where cannabis use is legal – for medical care and/or recreational use.
Another important test is the people on staff? Do they seem knowledgeably, warm, empathetic? The great thing about this industry is that most people are. Honestly. The people you find working in the industry are often people who have fought to get the movement where it is today. For that reason, people in 90% of all dispensaries are very like-minded and kind.
But it is always good to throw a few curve ball questions out there just to ensure they do, indeed, know their stuff and care about your safety. Nice and knowledgeable do not always go hand-in-hand.
The visual sweep is done just to quickly ensure this place as its stuff together, and that it is pleasing to the eye. What you do want is a place that is well lit, open from the street, and has a warm, welcoming vibe. A place you can trust.
Whereas before, these places used to be hidden and have no name and look like some shady backroom inside a building, those times are gone. And if you are still visiting dispensaries like that, it might be time to look into some other options. It should be more pharmacy than “hidden and shady“.
This is another great way to know if you are in good hands. If you visit a medical marijuana dispensary, and they only have three strains, something is off. You must understand, like any medicine, the best places have many strains in many forms to treat a variety of conditions.
Another great way to know the legitimacy of a place is the other goods they offer. Does you dispensary offer edibles? Do they offer oils or extracts? The variety a place has says a lot about that place. Plus, a wider variety available means a better chance of you getting your hands on the exact medicine or strain you need to improve your quality of life.
This is one a bigger aspect than anyone dares mention. Most sites will mention product or quality of a dispensary. But doesn’t it really all boil down to how well you are treated and how educated and empathetic the staff are? Any place can have great strains and eds, but if they treat their customers crappy, who would want to give them their business (for years, potentially)?
So find a place that is an equal balance between high quality merch and high quality staff, because having just one or the other isn’t enough. They need to coexist at the same time. You may have a place that has the medicine you need, but you also want piece of mind that you will be treated like a person and a patient and not someone buying drugs. Because that is our ultimate goal here. Is to ensure that people slowly begin to realize this is not a pro-drug movement. This is a medical movement, and once more people see that, the wider the cause becomes.
Don’t Settle For Less Than The Best
The point is, if you are going to go to a dispensary to acquire medical marijuana, do your homework and ensure you are giving your business to a dispensary that has all its ducks in a row. You want to be treated right by informed people while you seek out safe product that will have the best end result for you. If your experiences with dispensaries have been bad, might be time to find a new one. These things are popping up all over the place, and seem to be getting better with time.
So do some homework to ensure you are finding the perfect dispensary to meet your needs. It is easier than it sounds.
