In addition to his position at NBS, Dr. Richard Seelig is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Medical Informatics Program at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine where his responsibilities include curriculum development, instruction and clinical study design. Until recently he was Chief Medical Officer, Executive Vice-president, and Board member of VitaminSpice Corporation. From 2000-2007, Dr. Seelig served as Senior Medical Consultant and, subsequently, Vice President for Medical Applications for Applied Digital Solutions, then its successor, Verichip Corporation, where he developed a unique medical device incorporating RFID technology in medical informatics systems. His duties primarily involved application development, FDA compliance and market development.

For many years, Dr. Seelig was an attending General Surgeon in Morris County, New Jersey as well as a consultant to several major medical device manufactures. He has been featured in media appearances on network and cable news programs and is the author of numerous scientific articles in the medical field. Dr. Seelig, a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, received a BS from George Washington University and an MD from the New Jersey Medical School.
